Tiny Junior was admitted into our NICU the day he was born. His mama suffered from pre-eclampsia and he was delivered a couple weeks early, weighing 5 lbs. 9 oz. Junior was released from the hospital the same day, but his mama had to stay for further treatment. This left his young daddy with a newborn to care for, and no milk to feed him. Luckily, one of Junior’s neighbors knew about Middle Ground and told him how to find this place that could help him and his baby.
Junior spent six weeks in our NICU and graduated at a big healthy 8 lbs. 8 oz. He was discharged into our formula program because his mom had been so sick during her time in the hospital she had lost her milk it and was not able to breastfeed. Without the milk that Junior received at Middle Ground for his first year of life, he likely would not have survived. But today he is home with his daddy and his mama and growing like a little weed in their care!
